DYE PENETRNAT TESTS MATERIALS

Dye Penetrant Tests Method (DPT) ALSO well known as RED DYE PENETRANT TESTS (RDPT) is also widely applied as a Low Costs Inspection method used to locate Surface or Near Surface Cracks /flaws/ porosity/ discontinuities Etc in Ferrous, Non Ferrous and plastic materials of non porous nature. RDPT is used to detect defects in casting, forging, sintering, grinding, welds, pressure die casts porosities in new as well service components.

PRINCIPLE OF DYE PENETRANT TESTS METHOD

DPT (RDPT) is based on capillary action of nature law, where low tension fluid penetrate into clean and dry surface-breaking discontinuities. Penetrant may be applied to the tests components by dipping, spraying, or brushing. After adequate dwell period the excess penetrant is removed. A fine coat of developer is applied uniformly. The developer helps to draw penetrant out of the flaw where a visible indication becomes visible to the inspector. Inspection is performed under white light in case of visible red dye penetrnat tests and inspection is performed under UV. Light excluding white light.
